20 data points evaluated per bike

The Stamina Magnetic Fusion 7250 reaches out to riders seeking a semi-upright ride. The bike seat is tilted to 45°, giving a combination of back support and upright pedaling power. There are 16 resistance levels and 12 program modes. Data are shown on a basic LCD.

The Stamina Magnetic Fusion’s design feels safe to use in rehabilitation and for everyday healthy living. On this model, preset programs target fat burning, endurance and other fitness goals.

The Stamina Magnetic Fusion 7250’s list price is $629, but now the online price is $499. The purchase includes a five-year frame warranty and 90 days of parts coverage. Here’s a part-by-part review.

The Great

Is it the right ride for you? Here are some features that satisfied customers like about the Stamina Magnetic Fusion 7250.

  • Unique Design: The Magnetic Fusion 7250 is one of the few bikes with a tilted seat. For many owners it’s the perfect mix of an upright and a recumbent.
  • Workout Programs: The 12 workout modes offer enough variety for everyone. Along with manual mode, the menu includes: Rolling, Valley, Fat Burn, Ramp, Fitness Test, Random, Plateau, Interval, Mountain, 60% of Maximum Heart Rate, and 85% of Maximum Heart Rate.
  • Workout Data: The Magnetic Fusion 7250’s data screen is backlit for easy reading. It shows time, speed, calories burned, distance, resistance level, age-based target heart rate, and actual heart rate. A drawback though is that the heart rate data aren’t so accurate.
  • Frame Design: The 7250 has an easy-access walk-through design; there are no bars to step over. The bike is made from steel tubes and has aluminum rails for the seat. The maximum user weight capacity is 300 pounds.
  • 16 Resistance Levels: This bike has tension levels from 1 to 16. The tension range is appropriate for rehabilitation, weight loss or maintenance, and toning the lower body.
  • Quiet Operation: Using magnetic resistance, the Stamina Magnetic Fusion Recumbent 7250 operates very quietly. Changes between resistance levels can barely be heard.
  • Water Bottle Holder: A water bottle holder is conveniently attached to the bike frame.
  • Transport Wheels: This bike has wheels for easy relocation. Position it in front of the TV for workouts, then move it to a corner until your next session.
  • Stabilizers: Leveling stabilizer caps help keep the bike sturdy.
  • Weight Capacity: The maximum user weight capacity is 300 pounds.
  • Assembly: Customers generally find that this machine is straightforward to assemble, although the process can take about two hours.

The Not-So-Great

This hybrid stationary bike gets roughly equal numbers of happy and disappointed reviewers. The negative reviews are mainly from people who received imperfect bikes. In some cases the bike parts were damaged during shipping. In others, the parts just weren’t made to standards. Here are some other complaints.

  • Inaccurate Heart Rate: The Stamina Magnetic Fusion 7250 uses a fingertip sensor to measure heart rate. This would be a neat feature if it worked correctly, because the heart rate data can be used to control the resistance in several built-in workout programs. Touch sensors on Stamina bikes don’t get reviewed as being accurate.
  • Not for Short People: Like many stationary bikes, this unit is highly adjustable but still fails to fit the most petite customers. Sometimes adding a back pillow lets people get a comfortable fit.
  • Warranty: The short 90-day parts warranty is substandard. It isn’t a good fit for a bike originally priced at $629. The frame has a five-year warranty, which is OK for the price. There’s also a general guarantee against defective products.

Who Should Ride the Stamina Magnetic Fusion 7250 Recumbent Bike?

This bike appeals to those seeking the comfort and safety of a recumbent bike, but with a bit more challenge. The Stamina Magnetic Fusion 7250 Recumbent Bike gives recumbent riders more power, as if they were on an upright bike. It’s recommended to people 5’2″ and taller who are working on cardio fitness, weight loss and/or muscle toning.

The Bottom Line

The Stamina Magnetic Fusion 7250 Recumbent Bike has a unique design that many owners prefer over traditional uprights and recumbents. It provides body-friendly support like a recumbent bike, but the tilted seat lets riders put extra power into their downstrokes. The built-in workouts are helpful and motivating, although the heart rate controlled programs might not be very accurate.

This bike’s uniqueness makes it appealing. However, we emphasize that it’s a risky buy considering its short parts warranty. A similarly-priced bike to consider is the Epic A17r Recumbent Bike. It has a better warranty than the Magnetic Fusion 7250 — plus wireless heart rate monitoring, an online connection and daily workout downloads.
