20 data points evaluated per bike

Updated for 2020, the Diamondback 1260Ub is a light-commercial upright bike with a good combination of performance features, tech-savvy extras, and warranty coverage. Its seat is adjustable to fit a variety of trainees from 5’3″ to 6’7″, and it can hold up to 350 pounds. Highlights include 32 levels of quiet magnetic resistance from a 25-pound flywheel, wireless heart-rate-monitoring capability, and Bluetooth speakers. Check out the main pros and cons of the Diamondback 1260Ub below.

The Great

The Diamondback 1260Ub has many selling points.

  • Resistance: The 1260Ub has 32 levels of smooth and quiet magnetic resistance, enough to keep most trainees challenged as they progress. The force comes from a solid 25-pound flywheel.
  • Quick Controls: There are controls on the handlebars for you to make changes to your resistance level mid-workout.
  • AdjustabilityYou can adjust the seat at basically every angle, as well as forwards and backwards to fit your personal height. The toe straps are also adjustable. Another comfort feature includes the elbow rests on the handlebars.
  • Step-Through Frame: The 1260Ub has an easy step-through frame. This makes it easier to get in and out of the bike as you don’t need to lift your leg over the saddle each time.
  • Exercise Data: Although the 1260Ub doesn’t have a high-tech screen, the LED display still displays all your essential workout stats. Data includes WATT output, time, distance, calories, RPM, load, speed, and heart rate.
  • Controllable: The 1260Ub console can automatically adjust the resistance of your bike within WATT and heart-rate workout programs. This helps you stay in your target heart-rate zone to allow for optimal training sessions. It also means you can focus fully on the workout at hand rather than changing the resistance yourself.
  • Workouts Programs: The 1260Ub features 15 preset workouts. These include 12 preset programs, heart-rate-controlled training, custom user programs, watt, and a fitness test.
  • Wireless Heart-Rate Monitoring: As well as heart-rate contact sensors, the 1260Ub has a Polar compatible wireless heart-rate receiver for you to use with your own chest strap (not included). This is especially beneficial when used alongside the heart-rate-controlled workout programs.
  • Bluetooth Audio: The 1260Ub’s onboard speakers are Bluetooth enabled so you can listen to music wirelessly. You can also plug in your device if you prefer.
  • Tablet Holder: The 1260Ub has a tablet holder so you can dock your device, as well as a USB charging port.
  • Water Bottle Holder: Keep your water within arm’s reach in the cup holder beneath the handlebars.
  • High Weight Capacity: Built to light-commercial standards, the 1260Ub can hold up to 350 pounds.
  • Warranty: Like all Diamondback bikes, the 1260Ub has a good enough warranty. It includes five years of coverage for the frame and braking, three years for the parts and electronics, and a year of labor. Wear and tear items are only covered for 90 days, however.

The Not-So-Great

Here are some potential drawbacks of the Diamondback 1260Ub.

  • Not for Shorter People: Diamondback recommends this bike for people who are 5’3″ to 6’7″. Those who are 5′ 2″ and under may not find a comfortable fit.
  • Display: The LED display is fine for tracking your basic workout stats, but don’t expect anything in the way of entertainment on this console.
  • Wear & Tear/Labor Warranty: Although the warranty as a whole is OK, Diamondback only offers 1 year for labor coverage and 90 days for wear & tear items which isn’t great.

Who Should Ride the Diamondback 1260Ub Upright Bike?

The Diamondback 1260Ub will be a good choice for a wide variety of trainees in terms of height, weight capacity, and challenge level. It can be adjusted to fit anyone from 5’3″ to 6’7″ comfortably, and can hold up to 350 lbs. The 25-pound flywheel and 32 levels of resistance will deliver sufficient challenge for most trainees, from beginner to intermediate level, to more advanced cyclists. Serious spinners would prefer an indoor cycle with even heavier flywheel and slightly different rider position. However, if you’re an advanced cyclist looking for an upright bike for casual at-home workouts, the 1260Ub would probably still be a good match.

The Bottom Line

The Diamondback 1260Ub is a solid upright bike if you prioritize quality and durability over high-tech extras. There isn’t a sleek HD screen or anything of this sort. Yet it does offer a wide selection of resistance levels from its solid 25-pound flywheel to keep you challenged as you progress. It’s not for serious spinners, but it will suit most other people (of average and taller heights) who are looking for a sturdy upright bike to train on at home.
