Updated Jan 2020

Looking for an indoor exercise bike that feels like you’re riding on the road? The Diamondback 910ic indoor cycle could be your perfect match.

Updated for 2020, the Diamondback 910ic has an impressive 40-pound flywheel, 32 resistance levels, and a self-generating electronic resistance system. Although this magnetic trainer is sized for home use, it’s just as powerful and engaging as the spin bikes and indoor cycles you see at the gym.

As for workout variety, the 910ic features 12 workout programs and 4 heart-rate-controlled programs, as well as manual and custom user settings. The 910ic has a wireless heart-rate receiver, which you can take full advantage of through the bike’s heart-rate-controlled workout programs. Just use your own Polar T31 or T34 (non-coded) chest strap to wirelessly send your heart-rate data to the machine and get to work! The wireless heart-rate-controlled resistance will help you to stay in your target heart-rate zone throughout your workout. It’s also handy for keeping on top of your workout stats and tracking your progress in the long term.

Find your perfect fit with the up/down and fore/aft adjustments on the seats and handlebars, and target different muscle groups with the help of the multi-position handlebars.

Another special feature of the 910ic is the self-generating electronic resistance system. This gives you the freedom to work out on your 910ic anywhere, from your outside patio to your garage.

Although the Diamondback 910ic has a retail price of $1,199.99, the brand often runs online sales which knock a couple of hundred dollars off this.

Check out the main pros and cons of the Diamondback 910ic indoor cycle below.

The Great

Here are some of the newly upgraded bike’s best features.

  • Quiet Operation: With virtually no friction, the 910ic’s computer-controlled magnetic resistance is whisper quiet.
  • Sturdy Frame: The 910ic has a heavy-duty frame with a high maximum user capacity of 325 pounds. It can handle any workout you throw at it.
  • Self-Generating Power: The 910ic’s self-generating electronic resistance system means you can use your cycle anywhere. Take it out to your deck, your garage, or anywhere in your home that you want to cycle! The bike should be charged initially overnight and then about every 4 weeks of use, but between this, it’s green power all the way! Just remember to unplug the AC adapter before use; if you don’t, you could damage the computer console.
  • Workout feedback: As well as preset riding courses and automatic resistance changes, the 910ic provides rider feedback including miles traveled, calories burned, speed, time and more.
  • Wireless Heart-Rate Monitoring: The Diamondback 910ic has a wireless heart-rate receiver for you to use with your own chest strap. What’s more, heart-rate data can be used to control the bike’s resistance within the 4 heart-rate programs to help you train more effectively.
  • Preset Fitness Programs: The console has 12 built-in workout programs, as well as 4 heart-rate-controlled programs and manual and custom user settings.
  • 32 Resistance Levels: This trainer offers an impressive range of challenge levels. The magnetic resistance is computer controlled with the touch of a button; there’s no need to spin a knob.
  • Storage: There’s a built-in water bottle cage and storage compartment on the 910ic to keep your water within arm’s reach and your keys or phone safe and secure while you work out.
  • Adjustable: The handlebars and seats can be micro-adjusted for different body types to help you find your perfect fit and stay comfortable during your ride. The multi-position handlebars help you to target different muscle groups depending on how the bars are positioned.
  • Wheels: The Diamondback 910ic has wheels fixed to its frame so you can easily move it around between workouts.
  • Warranty: The 910ic has an acceptable warranty for a bike at its price point. It offers five years of coverage for the frame and braking, three years for the parts and electronics, and a year of labor. Wear and tear items are only covered for 90 days.

The Not-So-Great

Here are some potential drawbacks of buying the Diamondback 910ic.

  • Getting Repairs: When customers receive faulty machines, customer service from Diamondback seems to be inconsistent. In some reviews it’s stellar, in others it’s disappointing.
  • Console Power: The console is supported by user power. The bike uses an onboard generator to supply power to the computer, console display and resistance control system when in use. Although this is a plus as it eliminates energy costs and is more ‘green’, it also means that exercise data disappears if users stop pedaling. The console will automatically power down after 60 seconds of inactivity. To provide power to the console again, begin pedaling at a rate exceeding 15 revolutions per minute.

Who Should Ride the Diamondback 910ic Indoor Cycle Trainer?

The Diamondback 910ic is a spin bike that delivers vigorous workouts. It closely mimics the feel of a street bike and has the programming to support a wide range of skill levels and intensity levels. This bike can also fit a wide range of user heights (although Diamondback recommends the bike for people who are 5’3‘’ to 6’5”) and can support up to 325 pounds.

The Bottom Line

All in all, the Diamondback 910ic offers great value for a spin bike of its quality. It’s primarily a spin bike targeted to serious outdoor cyclists for when they can’t get outside, but it’s also designed to support first-time spinners. Programming is included for a variety of workout types and fitness abilities. It’s a versatile machine that’s ideal for home gyms with several trainees of varying skill levels.
